About Suzy

Suzy is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years of experience across a wide range of settings, including the police force (sworn and unsworn), emergency departments, surgical wards, acute and community healthcare, community psychiatry, and corporate office environments. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Psychology and Sociology) and a Master of Clinical Nursing (Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing), and currently provides Clinical Supervision (CS) in Private Practice.

Suzy is an experienced, committed, and motivated Clinical Supervisor who supports anyone working in roles where interactions with people can become complex or challenging. Clinical Supervision is not about being monitored or judged-it is a confidential, supportive space to step back, reflect, and share what’s on your mind. This process is open to all professionals who work with people, including healthcare workers, office, and corporate staff, and those in community roles.

Suzy is a qualified Advanced Practitioner and co-facilitator in CS training (Role Development Model). Her broad background enables her to confidently facilitate individual and group Clinical Supervision for workers at all levels, across both clinical and corporate settings.

While Suzy’s recent focus has been in private practice, she previously served as the Clinical Supervision Facilitator within her local health district. In that role, she launched a clinical supervision promotional campaign, established site-led communities of practice, and provided support and supervision to other supervisors.

Suzy has also led innovative wellness initiatives. She developed and
implemented a Local Health District bedside TV Wellness channel, which is continuously shown on hospital wards. As Chief Investigator, she conducted an ethics-approved feasibility study on this initiative, which was published in BMJcInnovations: "Patient and nurse perceptions of an innovative TV wellness channel in an acute medical ward: a feasibility study." [2]

Suzy believes that Clinical Supervision is valuable throughout a person’s career, helping to prevent burnout and work-related stress while fostering a positive, supportive workplace culture where everyone can thrive.

Clinical supervision is an opportunity to slow down, unpack explore and reflect on where we dwell in our professional worlds, and to find a lighter way to travelling through the myriad of systems that exist within organisations and to reconnect with our souls.

Suzy brings her enthusiasm and passion for clinical supervision, along with her vast knowledge as an experienced mental health clinician in providing the support to grow and develop in your professional role, and to wonder ‘what else might be possible.

My Approach

My Approach

Suzy trained as a Clinical Supervisor in the Role Development Model in 2017 and instantly experienced its value and benefits. Subsequently, she progressed to an Advanced Practitioner and has co-facilitated supervisor training since 2020 with Clinical Supervision Consultancy (www.clinicalsupervisionconsultancy.com.au).

The role development model was created by Michael Consedine (1940-2008), a psychiatric nurse, psychotherapist, psychodramatist and educator in New Zealand. Consedine worked on the model in the 1980’s to provide a framework of CS for health professionals which is based on ‘role theory’[3]. An evaluation and description of this model can be accessed in Harvey et al (2020) [4].
